The first look teaser of the Barbie film has been released online. It is an upcoming film directed by Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. Gerwig is known for critically acclaimed films like Lady Bird and Little Women. The music for the film is composed by Alexandre Desplat. The film features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken respectively, with a supporting ensemble cast that includes Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, and Kate McKinnon.
It is based on the eponymous fashion doll line by Mattel, and serves as the franchise’s first live-action film adaptation after several computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television films. Barbie is scheduled to be released in the United States and United Kingdom on July 21, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
