Richard Belzer is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and author, best known for his role as Detective John Munch on the TV series “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” He was born on August 4, 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1970s.
